The President's Message
It won't be long until the Amway Grand Hotel will be
buzzing with button enthusiasts. Sue Marsh, Lisa Schulz
and their committees have put together an Asian Fusion
to remember. The hotel's location offers plenty of walking
opportunities, and the nearby button sculpture provides
a delightful photo op. Joan Lindsay,
Please remember there will be no signs allowed in the President
hotel for room selling. Room sellers, please go to the registration table to get your
name on the list that will be updated frequently and made available to shoppers.
Your Board of Directors has spent a very busy year. We have met via telephone
monthly and have made interim decisions that will be published in the October
Bulletin. There will also be a few amendments to the bylaws presented for your
vote in 2012.
Tammy Jones, Judy Schwenk and Pete Nelson are retiring from the Board this
year, and our thanks go to them for their service to the Society.
Due to increased responsibilities of her full-time job, Angela
Talaber resigned as treasurer in May. The Board appointed Janel
Smith to complete Angie's term. Angie held that office for ten
years and our thanks go to her as well as to Janel.
As her term ends, we thank Freda Knight for her leadership
and service on the Nominating Committee since 2006. Due to her
Janel Smith, appointment as treasurer, Janel has resigned from the committee.
Fran Howell and Judy Schwenk will be joining Dot Linley come
August. Fran has agreed to chair the committee. Please help them by letting them
know of people you feel would make excellent Board members and officers.
Deborah Layman resigned as rack steward, and Delilah Davis from Illinois
has been appointed to fill that position. The organization thrives because of
people like these who give their time and talents willingly.
Speaking of helping, our webmaster, Deb Hanson, needs your help. Each state
button club is responsible for letting her know current (and future if you have it)
state button show information as well as changes to state button website URLs.
NBS directors and officers please check to make sure your information is COf-
rect and that any links associated with your positions are in working order. Your
president is one of the guilty ones - it took almost a year for me to figure out how
to post a blog, but it's now up and running. With 3822 hits per day, our website is
an extremely important outreach vehicle. Please help Deb keep it current.
