and consideration shown. We feel that the Maine State Button Society deserves
an additional special "Thank you" for their generous gift to the National Button
Society. Their President, Mrs. Flanders had been given a check in the amount
of $50, which was presented to your president to help defray the expenses of the
1965 Show. This arnount was augmented by a cash contribution from one of our
loyal young men from lvlaine. (You will have no trouble identuying him.) AU of
the New England States contributed to the flnancing usually assumed by the
Hostess State or States-the Open House, Decorations, Luncheon Favors, Name
Tags, etc. Mrs. Hollman, President of the Connecticut Button Society wa^s respon-
sible for the 25 flat silver gifts from International Silver Company, distributed at
the annual luncheon. The luncheon, and those in charge, will be recognized in
the January Bulletin.
Regular visitors at our annual afiairs expressed the opinion that no previous
show has displayed higher grade exhibik than this one. (We are aw&re that many
very fine buttons owned by New Englanders stayed at home.) A vote of thanks
to all who shaJed possessions with us.
Our dealers a,re a most important part of the annual get-together. Without
their help we would have difiiculty flnancing our Shows, The dealers appreciate
the selling direct to new and old customers-this is much more pleasant than
seiling by approval. In many cas€s the customer is privileged to meet a dealer
for the flrst time.
Space is limited, and the 1965 N.B.S. Show requires space to properly cover
the events, and those responsible for the success of it all. We ask your indulgence
until publication of the Janua,ry BULLETIN. Do read all of the Reports, and the
Minutes of the Meetings that are published herein.
Please accept my deep appreciation for again electing me Prasident of our
nne Society. I shall continue to work for you and with you, and ask for your
assistance. The membership has shown a wonderful increase in 1965. You are
urged to renew your 1966 membership at once. Save our secretary hours of work,
and N.B.S. a lot of unnecessary expense with all of the postage needed for re-
minders, etc.
I'lxe circle of travel has been completed, and I am home "Down Where the
Ozarks Begin". My husband joins me in best wishes to you and yours for a
blessed Christmas and a New Year flIled with happiness.

P.S. Associated Press publicity went far and wide from Concord. Letters are com-
ing in from many places.
BEHIND THE sitrENEsi
As a novice behind the scenes of a National Button Show, I feel impelled
to pay tribute to those many men and women who came early and who gave of
their time and money to plan a,nd organize the very successful Show that cer-
tainly all in our area feel we had.
I was amazed at the long hours and the sincere devotion displayed by these
very dedicated people. r am sure that no one just viewing the smoothly running
show realized the work and time spent in organizing and planning such an
undertaking.
May I say 'Ttlank you to you all" from the Button Clubs in this area and
from all of our New Hampstrire members? It was a treat and a privilege for us
to have you here. We hope you will come again. We saw much, we learned much
and we have many happy memories of your vlsit to our State.
