No two buttons
convey to me that very
special feeling and
spirit of Clrristmas as
the two large size
polychrome [Nos.10 and
11) picfured on page 153 of
The Complete Button Book by Lillian
Smith Albert. Inasrnuch as this is the
Christmas issue, I felt that these two
Christmas buttons, which I acquired frorn
the late editor's collection, should grace the
2001 cover and inside cover button copy.
The cover button depicts old Santa in a
Father Christrnas ffie red coat and the
enthusiastic children filled with hopes for
Christmas in a snow covered Northern city.
The second button of this rare pair is also a
large polychrome transfers on porcelain showing Santa
taking presents out of the basket in front of him and giving them to the
children. This also provides us the opportunity for
