Proposed Change in Glass Classes for
2010-11 Classification Book
Prior to the 2005 classification reorganization, the decorative finish class for Paint
was paired with Enamel. In response to members who felt there was not enough
difference between the two techniques to distinguish them easily, the term enamel
was dropped and the class became Paint, either fired on or not. Since then, some
collectors have correctly noted that enameled glass buttons no longer have a des-
ignated class. To remedy this, the classification committee proposes to reinstate
the class as "Paint/Enamel" for both Black glass and Clear & colored glass. Both
techniques will again be in the one class. This will be voted on at the 2008 Classi-
fication Meeting. Class 6- 4.3 Paint would become Paint/Enamel, and Class 7 - 5.4
Paint would become Paint/Enamel (class numbers stay the same).
