The President’s Message
Oh dear me...
Having given myself a nice talking-to about
setting button limits on myself, I returned
home from the fabulous Florida State Button
Show and opened my computer to find the
latest button auction. Seriously...must the but-
ton gods tempt me right now with a button
from the top of my button bucket list? YUP!
It appears they must. And so it goes, another
year has gone and a new year is starting and
already my little button taste buds are getting Vicki Condie MacTavish, President
all worked up! Shall I just chalk it up to the Ides with daughter Jen Read and
of March? granddaughter Ella Read
The Ides didn't go too well for Julius Caesar, so we just won't go there. I think I’ll
have a nice cup of tea and think about all of the wonderful things that NBS has
in store for us this year. I know you are all looking forward to seeing what our
new website will look like; the IT team is oh-so-busy getting it all set up for us.
Al Schulz is the project manager, and Mary Anne Melloy is his assistant. Many of
our already busy members are also working on the Button Country overview and
update prior to it being "plugged" into our new website. Such exciting times!
Speaking of exciting things, my mind drifts off to all things Asian. I wonder what
Sue Dickout and Martha DuPlessis have lined up for us during Spring Fest. Check
with Katrinka Quirk for up-to-date calendar events on the NBS website. Thank
you to all the many volunteers who make this beautiful hobby so much fun.
My tea is now finished, but not my monthly tea parties. They will be resuming
each month. Watch for reminders on Facebook. For those of you who haven't
yet joined us for tea, I want you all to know that our teas are group discussions
about button clubs, button club activities, program ideas, or any organization
events that are open for a chat. Editors and show chairs will gain a wealth of new
ideas by joining us. Use the regular NBS Zoom link to join the meetings on the
third Sunday of each month at 4PM EST. BYOB or Bring Your Own (Tea) Bag...
and your smile...and we can't wait to see you there. Speaking of smiles...that and
buttons is what it is all about. Can't part with a button? Just flash me a smile, and
I'll be happy.
I am looking forward to seeing you again in Springfield, Illinois this summer, or
to meeting you for the first time...for a GREAT TIME!
