Passementerie jet: Buttons constructed with bits. of black glass attached to
frames of wire or cut-out metal. (20,21)
Reinforced tops: Buttons of fragile, thin glass, either curved like a watch
crystal or flat, which are given strength by a wide metal support on the
back: The metal may be embedded in a thick adhesive (as in watch crystal
buttons), fastened tishtly to the glass with a thin cement, or held loosely
in place with a pin-shank. (22-24)
