last Sunday, ihree birthdays (Laua DuBois, Edith
Darby, Ida Holman) were celebrated simultaneously with the presentation of a
three tiered cake. Due to the fire hazard, the donors, Louis Campanella and John
Sprong, wisely limited the number of lightect candles. Ftecognition of personal
events, such as these, tend to create that spirit of good will we are eternally seek-
ing. -,
Wish you all could have seen the good showing of our Juniors at the National
-
Show in Los Angeles. Ttrey aJl worked very hard on their competitive trays and
the results were certainly to their credit and to that of their chairman and adviser,
Mrs. Delores Saunders. She realizes the potentialities of these young collectors and
eneourages them constantly. There are so many possibilities of developing some
of themlnto seasoned collectors. But they need our help and some of our duplicate
buttons. If you have al]y of the U. S. Armed Forces, Police or Uniform buttons that
are unimportant to you, the boys in the Junior group would be very glad to have
them. The girls, of course, ca,rl use any or all of the types we all colleet. A box
sent to Mrs. Saunders will be greatly appreciated, and used to good advantage.
Our New Jersey members are already prepaxing for the Show to be held irt
Atlantic City in September, 1960. Almost daily I receive such enthusiastic letters
telling aboui the plans. New York State and Pennsylvania State are joining with
us for this occasion and with their aid I'm certain we'll have a very ffne Show'
If you have never been to Atlantic city, this is your opportunity to visit this Mecca
of seaside resorts. f've throughly inspected the facilities of the hotel and f can
recommend the spacious lounges, the comfortable rooms, our very large exhibit
space and rooms for entertainment, the gardens, the poiches and the sun deck
overlooking the boardwalk. If you are an auction devotee, there are several fine
galleries in the vicinity holding sales daily. The weather in September is usually
perfect. The hotel is directly on the ocean. So make your plans now so as not to
miss one of the ffnest Shows you have ever attended.
Start working, too, on those trays you expect to send or bring along with you.
T'here are ever so many special prizes again this year and you can select the ones
in which you wish to compete from the list already published as well as those
which will appear in this issue. If you do not ca.re to follow the rules for classifica-
tion, then send your trays to the non-competitive section. This is an important
part of our exhibit also and one that is of great interest to collector and layman
alike.
Ttris letter will reach you some time between the end of this year and the
beginning of 1960. When the bells axe ushering in the New Year I'll be thinking
