64 THE NATIONAL 'BuTTon BULLETIN May 2008
Message to Life Members
The recent letter received by all life members has NO bearing on life member-
ship status. As stated in the letter, NBS has every intention of providing all
rights and privileges of the society for life. The letter was prompted by our
becoming aware of life members who no longer wish to receive bulletins.
Others had expressed a desire to contribute more and didn't know how.
Since the interest earned on the life membership fund does not cover the
cost of bulletins for our 500 life members, we felt we needed to offer the op-
portunity to help and provided 5 options. We value all our life members and
thank those who have responded so generously.
- Joan Lindsay, Second Vice-president
Just a thought ...
The National Button Society will never be able to thank Lois Pool enough for
her many years of gracious and selfless service while she served as the NBS
Secretary. It's an understatement to say that no one will ever be able to fill
Lois' shoes. It is because of how hard she worked for all of us, that we were
able to carryon when she became ill. With that said, I want you to know I
will do everything needed to make sure your dues are promptly recorded and
your Bulletins received, with as little error as humanly possible. But, I will not
be able to send each of you confirmation that your dues have been received. I
realize Lois did this, and many of you looked forward to her letters, which is
the reason I'm mentioning this now. When a response is needed to a ques-
tion or problem, I will answer you either bye-mail or postcard. Please, don't
ever hesitate to let me know if I can be of assistance. You can e-mail me at:
snoozin8@cox.net OR write to me at my home address on the NBB back
cover OR contact me via the NBS website: www.nationalbuttonsociety.org
IMPORTANT NOTES:
(1) The USPS CANNOT forward NBS Bulletins. If you move without letting
us know OR you use the USPS Vacation (Temporary Away) service, your
Bulletin will be returned to sender and NBS is charged between $2-$4.
You will be notified by postcard. Address changes must be received by the
Secretary one month before a Bulletin is mailed in order for it to be sent to
your new address. (2) If your 2008 dues were received after Feb. 1 and you
didn't receive your Feb. Bulletin and Classification Booklet, you can send $4
for first class postage with your request to the publications chair for your
area (addresses at top of pg. 220) .
.. . from your NBS Secretary, Susan Porter ;-)
