Word of the Month: Plan

As Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.
Definitions
• noun – a series of steps to be carried out or goals to be accomplished
• verb – to have the will and intention to carry out some action
I have not always had good plans (just ask the editors), but I’m working
on one. I need you as MEMBERS to make a plan too. Here are some
important dates I need you to meet:
• One month prior to a Bulletin issue date, send me:
• ALL address changes
• Membership dues (due dates are November 1st for most
members, but for those who joined after March 2023, it is
throughout the year)
• Three months prior to a Bulletin issue date, send unacknowledged
Young at Heart Club (90+ and 100+) member names.
• July 15th is the last notification date for member’s names to be
submitted for the annual memorial list. However, don’t wait, let me
know throughout the year.
Here is where I’m starting this year, and maybe you can also build your own
plan:
• Buy a paper calendar – mine is a desk mat and I keep it near my computer.
Keeping it on my phone and/or computer doesn’t work for me.
• Add monthly events I need or wish to attend (local, state, regional
button meetings, NBS Board meetings, the Button Room, etc.), Spring
and Fall Fest and the National Convention
• Add reminders needed to make the due dates for:
• Hotel or travel reservations
• Writing up reports for meetings
• Buying supplies
• Writing an article for the Bulletin. Remember that conducting
research and getting the phrasing just right takes time.
• Update your calendar with non-button events and reminders too if
that works for you.
• Save all the monthly calendars for the year. This is a good start for
your 2025 plan and beyond!
