        1. Button design names in this article are mostly based
        on examples in the book Snow Wave Pine – Traditional
        Patterns in Japanese Design by Niwa (2001).  However,
        as no documentation has been found with the maker’s
        design names, I believe that benefit of the doubt should
        go to the exhibitor for use as a similar design in compe-
        tition (e.g. cosmos flower used as a daisy).
