September,1951 NATIONAL BUTTON BULLETIN 276

I could go into more details, but by reading your BULLETIN, you will
note all information necessary for a successful Meeting. The dates, time
and place for our 1952 Meeting were announced in July. I trust they are
satisfactory. The New York State Society looks forward to greeting you in
Buffalo, New York at that time.
I invite all of you to come to our 1951 Annual Meeting and Show, and,
profit by your attendance, in knowledge, pleasure and a new store of buttons.
Looking forward to seeing mauy of you in less than a month's time,
         I am,
                                     Cordially,
                                                FLORENCE P. ABERLEI
             P. S.: I hope that many noted in our July issue, the incorporating of
the Colorado State Button Society in December 1950. We welcome this

MESSAGE FROM AWAR.DS CHAIRMAN FOR I952
'I'o the Members of the National Button Society:
To date, the most successful plan used for a competitive Show is that
of the special awards given by the National Society and its several members.
Not only has this proven successful financially, it has given increased interest
for all and added pleasure for those who make the awards, for those who
compete and for those who win.
So satisfactory has this plan proven to be that with one accord, it has
been decided to continue with it. Mrs. Aberle has asked me to act as chair-
man of awards for the year 1952. This I am happy to do. Anticipating
your desires, I am all agog over the idea of having a completed list by
January 1st and in your hands by way of the March 1982 BULLETIN.
What could be nicer than to have each state represented-either as a
state or by some of its rnembers? \lhat more complete than to have several
awards for every section? For such a goal, I plead for your interest and
        cooperation.
Already four states and two membels have entered their awards and
started the ball i.o rolliug. They each had their first choice.' Later it will
be necessary for a 2nd and even a 3rd choice to be made.
If you wish to decide before the new classification is available just
designate the Division, Section and Class you wish according to the classi-
fication now in use and, with the help of a member of the committee, to in-
sure correct[ess, it will be transferred to the new classification.
When we meet in Chicago, I will be happy to talk with you and help
in any way I can. Please remernber it is not necessary to make large
awards. Anything from 92.00 to 95.00 will be ample. We much prefer
many small awards to a few large ones. Include check made out to the
        National Button Society.
"Out of the mouths of babes." After dressing in a great hurry in order
to have a ride to the country with his father, the small three year old said,
"Now I know, Mommie, all you have to do, to do a thing, is to take a notion."
            Let us "take the notion."
                                     Sincerely,
                                                   HORTENSE SCALES
