268 NAfiONAL BUTTON BULLETIN Nov.-Dec., 1965
R,EPOR,T OF THE CHAIBMAN Or. JUDGES
My assistant chairman, Mrs. Jean Kasemeyer, with absolutely no help from
me, assembled an entirely adequate stafi of judges this year. Our regular school
for judges was augmented by an extremely well organized program by Mrs. Viviane
Ertell who skessed once again the important aspects of good judging and illtx-
trated her points with colored slides. The work was weII handled this year, and
was completed in good season and without pressure. The results '"vere reasonably
satisfactory, in my opinion; trouble spots axe being noLed; and an added effort
wiU be made next year to eliminate the facLor of human frailty.
Despite two sessions of instruction, however, the judging was not enLirely
without fault. I very much regret the necessity for a change of a trophy award
after the show had been opened to the public and will make every effort to
improve the "spotting" next year to prevent a recurrence oi this.
f am most grateful for the continued cooperation and support given to me by
       exhibitors and judges alike.
                                           TI{OMAS W. OWENS, JR,.
                                           Chairman
