Chairman of the Board, Judge Pendleton, has helped smooth my path'
Let no one tell you that a good secretary is not of utmost importance to a
pr€sident. During tiris year M15. Mcgreight has taJ<en on additional responsi-
bility, and my deepest gratitude goes to her.
First vice-President Editl. Rodway has boen my working representa.tive in
this New England show plan and preparation. To her a,nd to her husband a
thousa.nd tJrank you's.
It has not been possible to attend all of the state shows I wanted to enjoy
ttris fear. 'ttrose atte:nded have been reported in my bi-monttrly communication.

REPORT OF FIR,ST VICE PN,ESIDENT
To the Ofiicers and Members of the National Button Society:
Ttre past year has been a busy one for all, and sadness has been experienced
by the S'ocieW in the passing of our Editor of many years, Mrs. Lilljq.n Smith
aiUert, and olher collectors of long standing. We were fortunate to be able to
araw o., the knowledge of journalism of our President, Mrs. GIen Toalson, who
has carried on the arduoui task of editing our Bulletin. I am sure a1l of the
membership feel a sense of gratitude.
I have traveled marny miles ttris past year, and have encouraged the mounting
of buttons with Nationi.l activities. Ttte New England States are hosts to the
National Button Society, and this tras entailed planning and a great deal of trav-
eling. Ttris region has not entertained the National Society for quite a few years,
and new members trave requested information as to ttre fundamenta,ls in mount-
ing for oompetition. I have given irrshuction to many clubs, alId to individuals, to
tha best of my ability. Taking into consideration the anea to be covered, this has
kept me on ttre road much of the time. It has been a pleasure, as I trave made
thi acquaintance of new members and hove renewed friendstrips with members
